Elderly people must ensure they apply for winter fuel payments before September 21st in order to receive the financial help before Christmas, it has been announced.
International charity Help the Aged has stated that while consumers already receiving the monetary aid need not apply again, those who normally benefit from the funds but who have undergone a change in circumstances since receiving payment last year must contact the Pension Service.
Changes in circumstances may include modification of benefit entitlements, a new address or alteration of bank account details.
Mike O'Brien, minister for pensions reform, commented: "We don't want anyone to miss out on the help they are entitled to. If you haven't received a winter fuel payment before - and are not receiving state pension or another social security benefit - you need to apply."
The current payment stands at around £100-200, while those households containing someone over 80 can obtain as much as £300.
