Older people 'are more honest vendors'

July 30, 2007
Older people are far more likely to sell their homes on an honest basis than their younger peers, according to new research.

A carried out by Saga, a finance specialist focused on the older market, found that three-quarters of people over the age of 50 would definitely not consider lying in order to secure a sale on their property.

This compares favourably when compared to younger sellers - with more than half of those in the 18 to 24-year-old bracket (55 per cent) stating that they would happily lie in order to sell their home.

As an example, one in three of those aged under 50 stated that they would paint over a damp patch in order to conceal the problem from potential buyers.

In recent weeks, Saga has published statistics suggesting that older people are more likely to move house in July than in any other month.
